I am currently using the following equipment for my amateur radio activities:
This is my second HF radio with all the 160 meters to 10 meters available on it. It is the bottom of the heap in ICOM's line up but allows me to use all the bands and play around with digital modes.
This is the Heathkit radio I built in the 1970's while I was teaching electronics. The only modification I have made so far is to add a BNC connector to the back in place of the RCA plug for the antenna output.
This is the Heil microphone designed for older model ICOM radios like the IC 718 I have.
Electro Voice Model 638 Microphone
I purchased this microphone on Ebay to have the same equipment that was originally specified for the Heathkit radio I built.
W8AMZ G5RV Multi Band 10-80m Dipole HF
I purchased this dipole antenna on Ebay to have a low cost multiband antenna to start working with. It is strung up approximately 40 feet above the ground horizontally.
LDG AT-100 Pro II Automatic Antenna Tuner
The guys at HRO suggested this model to match my radio to the dipole when using different bands.
I don't want to be one of those guys who tunes up on the air.
Wouxun KG-UV3D 2M/440 Dual Band Handheld
This is the cheapest way to get some UHF/VHF coverage I could find.
